I incredibly super fail at the internet. Let’s pretend this is 1996 and you’re totally impressed. Whatever, this just means I’m officially a savant. At any rate, it’s 72 degrees outside and I need to not be sitting indoors any longer. Have I mentioned just come see me in person? I do much better that way..

mid-October updates..

Yes, it’s the 20th, but I refuse to consider it anything later than MID-October, since it’s my favorite month and has been rude enough to ZOOM by so far.

Highlights of October so far (aside from the weather, which has gotten lovely) include being part of the premier show of “Piss Factory” at Local 269 (aka the former Meow Mix.. sigh), where I made a bunch of hardcore fans listen to Stephen Malkmus for my pirate act, preparing to appear as a Transylvanian in the big Halloween night screening/performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show at (Le) Poisson Rouge, the AMAZING acts put on by each and every one of my delicious and supertalented SPAM-ettes for our salute to horror movies this past Saturday (though the crowd could have been bigger. Albany, what are you thinking?? COME TO SPAM!! EVERY THIRD SATURDAY AT VALENTINE’S AT MIDNIGHT. SCOOTER PIE AT MIDNIGHT. It’s an incredible show, although we could use a better backdrop. Somebody make me one.), and of course the dancetacular crowds we continue to be blessed by every Wednesday at Shaken & Stirred. (I’m about to take a nap in preparation for tonight’s show, in fact.)

Man, September has been flying by in a blur and a blast! I danced so hard after a lovely Shaken & Stirred last night, I think I pulled a butt muscle. Now, is that commitment to S&S’s new semi-official tagline “DANCE IT OUT!”, or what?

This month’s highlights have included (but have not been limited to) my first appearance in my hometown of Schenectady NY last Friday (as part of the venerable and revered Proctor’s Theatre’s monthly Art Night event- I danced in the old Carl Co. department store! WHAT!), a coupla knockout, sold-out shows with Sugar Shack at DC’s Palace of Wonders, and a superfun evening with the “Amber Sandwich” (Ray and Star, respectively) and a lovely crowd at Brick City in Newark.  Can’t wait to see that nutty go-getter Calamity Chang at Nurse Bettie tonight (after I rest my butt muscle, of course), and help the Bing Bamboo Room celebrate its 6th anniversary on Monday!

October is coming! It is the best month, especially in NYC,  when it’s our gift for surviving rotting-garbage summer and months of endless grey slush and freezingness. October dates so far:

Shaken & Stirred has been an extra-big blast lately, with wonderful guests and high-energy dancin’ crowds, and the SPAM Women of Punk show was a hit (no one, however, was injured, bled, or vomited onstage.. would that have meant more success? Aug 19th.. already?

I hereby vow to update this more.. at least more often than once every four months.

Last night’s Shaken & Stirred was fun! It was lovely to see Miss Mary Cyn, and I’m so excited for all of Runaround Sue’s goings-on. There is still about a pint of pomade in my hair (if semi-solids can be measured this way), and that’s ok.

Albany NY people: GET EXCITED. Seriously, I’ll wait, do it now. Ready? Ok. Saturday night is SPAM time again, folks! The ladies and I are proudly presenting a very special show- THE WOMEN OF PUNK (all caps, yes). Honoring the likes of Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Nina Hagen, Courtney Love, and more. Who knows what kind of stuff we’ll get up to? Valentine’s (17 New Scotland Ave.). $5. Midnight.
